A Day in the life of a minimalist

When you think of minimalism, there’s a high chance that you think of empty apartments, bland clothing, and absolutely no personal belongings. Minimalists don’t need them, right? Well, that’s not quite how it works. To be a minimalist, you have to really think about the things in your life. If you do not value them and you have no use for them, then they just become a distraction. Getting rid of these items and objects can help you have a more meaningful life, but what does a day in the life of a minimalist really look like?

Starting the day right

Contrary to what most people believe, minimalists do not rise to the sound of their own bodily rhythms. Most of them have alarms just like the rest of us, in bedrooms just like the rest of us. They also shower, brush their teeth, and maintain their health and wellbeing. However, there is one difference between a minimalist and someone who doesn’t follow this lifestyle. Most minimalists only own a few items of clothing, which means they basically wear the same things every day.

Working as normal

After they get ready for the day, minimalists often go about their day jobs just like anybody else. There are some minimalists who work in an office, there are some minimalists who work freelance in their own home, and there are some minimalists who don’t work at all. There’s nothing about minimalism that stops people from pursuing their passions or earning an honest wage.

Making lunch

Minimalists normally try and keep their food intake as simple as possible. Many of them choose natural and organic foods such as meat, eggs, fruit, and vegetables. In fact, some even cook extra portions of their lunches to keep for the rest of the week. This means that they don’t have to worry about cooking as the week goes on. This means that they spend less money on eating out because they already have food ready and waiting for them in the refrigerator. They also do the same when it comes to their dinner, and they try to reduce as much waste as possible. After all, waste not want not!

What they don’t do

More than anything, the specifics of being a minimalist comes down to the things they don’t do. Minimalists don’t spend hours thinking about what they’re going to wear, they don’t aimlessly scroll through social media for no reason, they don’t spend their time chasing things that don’t matter to them, and they do what needs to be done. They take the fuss and the frills away from everyday life, and only matter what is important to them, their progression, and life around them. For many who aren’t minimalists, this is a completely different life to what they believe a minimalist to be like.

Minimalism isn’t all about living a sparse and empty life. The way of life is more about your thinking and your perception of the world rather than your possessions and your physical surroundings. Do you think you could live a day in the life of a minimalist?
